Frank Pecquet
Frank Pecquet was born in 1957. He studied music, linguistics and philosophy in Paris and was gained his PhD in 1985 with a dissertation on ‘repetitive’ principles in musical structures. He then spent 6 years studying in San Diego, with Morton Feldman and Brian Ferneyhough amongst others. He completed his second PhD there in music-philosophy with a dissertation on algorithmic compositional methods. Back in Europe he worked at the IRCAM in Paris and was guest composer at the Darmstädter Ferienkurse. He is presently lecturer in computer music at the institute for aesthetics at the university of Paris I. His work with advanced technology is also the basis for his composition, which reflects great structural clarity and temperament.
