Saúl Cosentino (*1935) is a pianist, composer and Arranger. He studied piano with Galia Schalman and composition and orchestration with Guillermo Grätzer. 
His first LP „Fuera de serie“ was released 1983 von RCA Victor. It contained modern tangos composed and arranged by Cosentino, and was performed by his „Grupo Vanguardia“, including 
Fernando Suárez Paz on violin, Daniel Binelli on Bandoneon, Ricardo Lew on elektric guitar, Alberto Cevasco on electric bass and Enrique „Zurdo“ Roizner on drums. 
The second LP „Nueva propuesta“ was released in 1985 by CBS, also with arrangements and compositions by Cosentino and featuring the same musicians as above, with whom he performed extensively in Argentina, always receiving the best reviews. 
In 1990 his third LP „Los cielos más altos“ was released by Polygram, reflecting once again the contemporary tango style of his compositions. 
Cosentino’s composition “Lo que me gusta“ (lyrics by Roberto Díaz) won the first prize of the renowned Carlos Gardel tango competition of the city of Buenos Aires in 1990, the 100th birthday of the Argnetinean tango idol Carlos Gardel. 
Cosentino’s tangos reached the finals of the „Festival Ibero-Americano de la Canción“ no less than 8 times between 1977 and 1997. In this last year his tango „Sin tu mitad“ won the first prize. 
His first CD „Himno a Buenos Aires“ was released by Polygram 1992. 
In 1992 he was awarded the „Tercer Premio Nacional de Música“ for his composition „Ultimátum“ , and a year later the „Segundo Premio Nacional de Música“ for „Hay una casa Chiquita“, a suite of children’s songs. 
Cosentinos „Suite atípica“, which is published by TONOS, won the first prize of the chamber music competition of the Argentinean performing rights society SADAIC in 1995. 
In 1998 his CD „El nuevo tango“ was released by M&M, and in the following year the next CD „Saúl Cosentino, la música“, containing 15 works with lyrics by Horacio Ferrer amongst others, and sung by Raúl Lavié, Nestor Fabián and Patricia Barone amongst others, was released. In 2002 the orchestral version of this „Suite atípica“ was premiered.
